Cloth
Colour
The origins of this cloth go back to the clan estates of Scotland where it depicted the colour palette of the local landscape. The natural dyes were often extracted from local ingredients such as lichen and wild flowers, as well as the wide range of naturally occurring colours in the undyed wool.
The fleece used in this weave comes from sheep that are raised on the windswept Shetland Isles of northern Scotland. It is hand sorted and spun in Scotland before being sent to England for weaving. Shetland wool is unique in its combination of fine and rustic fibres, both long and short. The cloth is surprisingly soft and insulating and becomes a very comfortable wearable blanket on long flights, especially with the collar turned up.
